SETU Rural Innovation Hubs attend Digital Readiness Workshop in Dungarvan Enterprise Centre – 18th March 2026

Jane Foster – Rural Hubs Programme Support Officer and Dr Sergio BotelhoJunior – EU Projects Officer attended the SETU Digital Readiness workshop in Dungarvan on Thursday 18th March 2026.

South East Technological University was delighted to bring together regional businesses and enterprise support agencies at the Dungarvan Enterprise Centre Rural Innovation Hub on 18th March 2026 for a pilot workshop focused on digital readiness for micro enterprises.

Led by Prof Felicity Kelliher, TU RISE Sabbatical candidate, in collaboration with Hazel Peavoy and Stephen Barnes of the ENTIRE European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) at the Walton Institute, the workshop explored how digital maturity assessment tools can better support micro enterprises on their digital transformation journey.

With participation from stakeholders including Local Enterprise Office Waterford and Propelor BIC, the session created valuable space for discussion, insight-sharing, and collaboration around the needs of this important business cohort. Micro enterprises make up over 96% of all businesses in Ireland and across Europe, yet they are often underrepresented in digital transformation initiatives. This pilot marks an important step in shaping more inclusive and practical supports for businesses across the region.

This work reflects SETU’s commitment, through TU RISE, to strengthening regional innovation capacity and supporting enterprise development through collaboration, research, and impact.
